A festival that honours one of my literary heroes!  And I get to be there!  The Alice Munro Festival of the Short Story takes place 4-7 June in Munro’s home town of Wingham, Ontario.  I’ll be doing two Master Classes and a reading.  See the full schedule of authors and events here.

I’ve just received my contributor’s copy of 14: Best Canadian Stories, selected by the inimitable John Metcalf.  This volume republishes “Your Dog Makes Me Smile,” which first appeared in Numéro Cinq and went on to become a chapter of Ellen in Pieces.  This is the third year in a row that an Ellen story has appeared in Best Canadian Stories.

What a delight to see Ellen in Pieces appear three times on the Writers’ Trust of Canada’s Best Books of the Year.  The books were selected by writers recognized by the WT this year.  Read the complete list here.
